Visualisers,
also known as
document
camera's,
digital
visualisers,
digital
overheads or
docucams, are
real time image
capture devices
that are able to
display a 3D
object to a
large audience.
They are in
essence, high
resolution web
cams, mounted on
arms. This
allows a
teacher,
lecturer or
presenter to
write on a sheet
of paper or
display a 3D
object while the
class watches.
Typically used
in classrooms or
lecture venues,
they can also be
connected to a
data / video
projector for
large screen
viewing. They
replace the
traditional
clear
transparency
film type
overhead
projector. Most
document cameras
can also send
video signals to
a computer via a
USB cable and
more commonly
these days can
be connected to
an interactive
whiteboard
instead of a
standard
projection
screen.
Many portable
document
camera's
incorporate a
flexible
gooseneck design
for ease of use
and some are
also capable of
displaying high
definition
images. Many
document
camera's can
also be supplied
with an optional
extra accessory
that enables
them to be used
with a
microscope in
science labs.
Imagine the
convenience of
viewing a
science
experiment in
real time with
your class. A
document camera
is an amazing,
yet simple
teaching tool
that can help
you turn your
classroom into a
spontaneous,
exciting
learning
environment.
